Darren Swayne

Founder & CEO, Elsewhere Offsites

Darren Swayne began his career in the City of London, working as a fund manager for American Express Asset Management before co-founding two hedge funds between 2000 and 2010. A graduate of Hull University (BSc Economics & Business Economics) and York University (MSc Project Analysis, Finance & Investment), Darren spent over 15 years at the heart of global finance before choosing to follow a deeper calling.

In 2010, he left the financial world to pursue a different kind of growth - one rooted in brand, creativity, and experience. Alongside his wife Juliette, Darren began restoring Hill House, a stunning Tudor manor in the English countryside. Initially rented out through an agent, he quickly realised the potential to create something far more personal and powerful - a deeply curated guest experience with service and soul at its heart.

Between 2010 and 2012, Hill House tripled its revenue, but more importantly, it became a magnet for extraordinary client feedback. This success sparked a bigger vision: what if the magic of Hill House could be shared more widely?

Elsewhere was born in 2012 - a company built on the belief that extraordinary experiences, shared with friends, family, or colleagues, have the power to transform us.

As Founder and CEO, Darren leads Elsewhere’s strategic direction and creative evolution, while remaining hands-on with clients, storytelling, and the design of new experiences. His passion is building things that move people - and shaping a brand that helps others remember what truly matters.
